Currently the preparation of an application for the establishment of the first in Northern Eurasia transboundary biosphere reserve "Great Altai" on the basis of the two existing national biosphere reserves "Katon-Karagay" (Kazakhstan) and "Katunskiy" (Russia) is going on.
